Education to Employment Alliance Champions Five Learner-Centered Bills in 2024

2024 Legislative Session Policy Spotlight: This is the fourth in a series in which we highlight the policies passed during the last legislative session and how they will impact Colorado learners.

In the 2024 Legislative Session, the Education to Employment Alliance, a statewide coalition of business leaders representing over 2,000 employers, championed five bills aimed at developing Colorado’s talent pipeline and supporting its workforce needs.

Each bill aligns with the Alliance’s recommendations outlined in their Fall 2023 report, Maximizing Human Potential and Economic Mobility for Coloradans:

  • Measure outcomes and direct funding to education and training programs that help graduates achieve sustainable careers.
  • Create regional talent-development goals and action plans overseen by a workforce intermediary.
  • Realign the pathways offered in schools with the needs of employers.
  • Streamline and incentivize employer participation in career-connected learning opportunities.
  • Ensure education providers are focusing on the skills that students and employers need.
