COLORADO SCHOOLS AND EDUCATORS AWARDED $150,000
FOR SERVING AS MODELS IN THE STATE

Business, Education and Government Leaders Gathered to Celebrate
the Agility in Education Movement

DENVER – September 20, 2019 – The third annual Succeeds Prize — a partnership between Colorado Succeeds, mindSpark Learning and 9NEWS— brought together business, education, and government leaders to recognize Colorado’s most transformational education innovators and impact makers through six awards and $150,000 in cash prizes. “Together, we are driven by the belief that the educational system should respond to the diverse needs of learners rather than asking them to conform to the constraints of the existing structure,” said Kim Christiansen, 9NEWS lead anchor.

Sponsored by the state’s business community, The Succeeds Prize is the most prestigious awards and recognition event for Colorado’s public schools and educators. “We need people who can innovate – who can go from possibility to practicality, and that’s what we honor here tonight,” said Joe Verrengia, Global Director of Corporate Responsibility, Arrow Electronics. The live broadcast awards ceremony will be followed by a yearlong effort to strengthen public schools through professional development and training for educators aimed at scaling successful innovations and practices across Colorado to impact the state’s nearly 900,000 students.

Event attendees enjoyed live music from Grandview High School students and a student DJ, innovative education experiences through virtual reality demonstrations, and the mindSpark Learning drone tent. Key stakeholders from the Colorado Department of Education, Colorado General Assembly and corporations from across the state joined educators and school leaders during the networking reception. In addition to receiving cash prizes, the winners will also receive customized professional training from mindSpark Learning, a non-profit dedicated to re-engineering education through educators with unique professional learning experiences for both the school leader and teacher.

As the economy and labor market are evolving in unpredictable ways, Colorado Succeeds, 9NEWS, and mindSpark Learning are dedicated to recognizing Colorado schools and educational programs that establish a mindset of lifelong learning and equip students to adapt and succeed in a future that will have jobs yet to be invented.
