Colorado Succeeds Announces Nine Finalists for The Succeeds Prize Excellence in Education Awards
DENVER, CO — Aug. 15, 2019 – Colorado Succeeds received over 50 applications from schools and districts across the state to compete for The Succeeds Prize for Excellence in Education. Guided by the Vision 2030 Framework, applicants were asked the critical question: How is your school or district developing agile learners and preparing students to thrive in an uncertain future?
Experts predict that 85% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 have not been invented yet and that many of today’s jobs are susceptible to automation. Through The Succeeds Prize, the Colorado business community seeks to recognize and reward educators reimagining education through this prestigious award. This year’s finalists are engaging their community to deeply engage students with their learning.
“In Colorado, there are outstanding examples of schools and districts innovating the way they prepare students through developing real-world skills, expanding access to growth and development opportunities and instilling a lifelong love of learning,” said Scott Laband, President of Colorado Succeeds. “The Excellence in Education finalists stand out as true examples of what Colorado schools are doing to keep pace with the changing world around us.”
Through a robust selection process involving education, business, and philanthropic leaders, the following 9 programs are identified as models of educational excellence. Programs being recognized this year range from innovative solutions for workforce demands in different industries and school settings, compelling internships, and work-based learning models, and leading districts in innovative school designs.

- STRIVE Prep – Excel High School, Denver Public Schools: HackSchool
- Warren Tech, JeffCo Public Schools: Computer Science and Cybersecurity Program

- Aurora Public Schools: Digital Badging Program
- Poudre School District: NoCo Inspire
- St. Vrain Valley School District: Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools
Presented by Colorado Succeeds, 9NEWS, and mindSpark Learning, The Succeeds Prize is the premier event in Colorado education. In its third year, The Prize recognizes and awards schools, educators, and districts in two categories: Transformational Impact and Excellence in Education. Finalists for the Impact Awards were announced in May.
The winners will be announced during a live-reveal ceremony at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Sept. 19. Each winner will be awarded $15,000.
