“Every day I’m a part of this environment it makes me happier and more thrilled about my life.”
Kameron Woods, a senior at Grand Junction High School, shared this while participating in Mesa County 51’s work-based learning program. The district’s Career Center encompasses nine fields including culinary, small animals, and healthcare.
Mesa County 51 Schools is building sustainability into their already-strong career-focused programming thanks to the Career Success Program. The program, launched in 2016, provides schools with up to $1,000 in bonus funding when a student either:
- Earns an industry credential tied to an in-demand job
- Finishes a rigorous workplace training program tied to key industry needs
- Successfully completes a Computer Science AP course
