Skills Gap

We surveyed nearly 250 Colorado employers on their workforce challenges and where they want Colorado’s next governor to focus to improve education and talent pipeline development. Here is what they had to say.

Our statewide survey of employers found:

86% of Colorado employers say that skills gap is a threat to their business.

Struggle to find workers with applied skills like critical thinking and problem-solving.
Have difficulty finding candidates with workplace skills like teamwork and communication.

Due to Colorado’s skills gap,
more than 50% of employers:

Spend more on training and recruiting
Experience productivity loss
Experience lower work quality
Have slower business growth
Experience higher turnover
Lose revenue
Have lower employee morale

Without a skills gap,
Colorado employers would:

Hire Applicants from Colorado
Grow their Operations in Colorado/Create More Jobs
Increase Employee Compensation
