All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced
that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth.

Programs

Colorado Succeeds analyzes educational issues and concepts and engages in reform efforts that are consistent with proven business principles. Our actions are designed to affect education policy in two primary areas: (1) Initiatives and (2) Influence.

Colorado Succeeds actions will come in two primary areas:

  1. We will instigate, collaborate and support educational initiatives that are consistent with sound business principles.
    • Career and Technical Education (CTE)
      • Demonstrate that rigorous CTE programs are an important and viable component of public education
      • Expand access to CTE programs, align supply and demand
      • Prepare students for post-secondary education or to enter the workforce
    • School Choice
      • There is an urgent need for change and education reform leaders generally agree that starting new schools is easier and more effective than transforming failing schools
      • Explore opportunities to improve student achievement through school choice
      • Stimulate and support the creation of new high performing schools serving low-income students in kindergarten through twelfth grade in Colorado’s front range
  2. We will leverage the influence of the business community behind policies and programs that align with core business principles and improve education in Colorado
    • Career and Post-secondary Education Preparation
      • Endorse portable, individual Career and Academic Plans for each student to track their career and college pathway
      • Support efforts proposing that each district adopt a plan defining its strategies for career and post-secondary preparation, as part of its accreditation plan
      • Encourage the State Board of Education to adopt internationally competitive standards for career and post-secondary preparation
    • Advocate for policy change
      • Align systems and policies to support the knowledge based economy
      • Weave together education and workforce strategies with economic development strategies and the needs of employers
